MariaDB 10 clustering is very nice and easy to work with. It was a relatively painless learning curve when I tried it.

Your link to the article does not seem to be working btw. I could not find that article on that website.

Galera (MySQL/Maria) vs. BDR (Postgres) ? Any thoughts, other than that FusionPBX and FreeSWITCH support Postgresql natively which seems to make it a more compelling option?

Look at the documentation for setting up BDR vs the documentation for Galera/MariaDB. You will get your answer quite quickly.

Fusion support is another matter. The developer clearly prefers working with PostgreSQL but I think it would be a big mistake to drop MariaDB/MySQL for all sorts of reasons.

Defacto it was dropped ages ago, mysql is no longer tested. BDR is a breeze and works great.

Just fyi, MySQL/MariaDB still works on FusionPBX v4.4. A lot of other projects (like ASTPP) use MariaDB so it still makes a lot of sense to continue to use that imo.

@smn I seriously wouldn't get too wedded to the mariadb thing, I'm sure only last week mcrane was talking of changed that will definitely depend on postgres.

The mariadb thing is definitely interesting though, I believe it is quite easy to make a master/master cluster now.

The fact of the matter is that the software current works with it with no additional development required. To now try discourage it's use and therefore limit the potential audience of users and developers doesn't make any sense to me. The world is not going to switch to PostgreSQL because of anything Fusion/Freeswitch does. I can adapt and use whatever but it doesn't change my preference to using MariaDB. Mostly because everything else I use also uses MariaDB.

So now with ASTPP, I have to deal with MariaDB on one system and PostgreSQL on another and I would rather not be forced into doing that. It kind of makes me want to look for alternatives and then I am back to looking at Kazoo again. The nice thing about that project is that everything is on one DB and is relatively easy to cluster. I kind of like working with CouchDB. The biggest problem with Kazoo is that the GUI is incomplete unless you want to give 2600Hz a bunch of money and offer a service just like everyone else using their platform.

Can't have my cake and eat it too no matter what I do :). I actually started making my own GUI and billing for Kazoo. That is the holy grail but it's not going to happen overnight.
