Yes, I realize that...I was just using
Status > Email Queue to send a test message.
As I mentioned, I'm using AWS SES as the MTA, which
requires TLS. E-mail settings are below. After a few hours, it started working. As part of my testing, I change the SMTP port again, however, it continued to use port 587. It seems as though however the mailer works, there's some amount of log between setting the SMTP port in the web UI and that port actually being used...
