Time Conditions and IVR

Got an odd issue with time conditions and IVR.
Time condition transfers calls to an IVR depending on time of day. When the call is sent to the IVR it only responds to DTMF after the greeting has played in full.
But if I dial the IVR directly I can interact with the IVR immediately without waiting for the whole greeting to be played.
Any idea whats going on here, I'd like to be able to interact with the IVR without waiting for the whole greeting to be played
