We are having a number of users report the caller ID is not being received and have worked with our VOIP provider (VoIP Innovations). The responded that the issue is:

We can see that you are passing an ANI of "FreeSWITCH" which will cause issues when passing caller ID to the receiving end. We would advise passing the 10 digit number in the Source field or ANI to allow the caller ID to be passed correctly.

This does not seem to be anywhere intuitive to change. Can anybody point me to the correct location for this. We are hosting of course MANY numbers so we would like it to use the outbound caller number set by other parts.

It would be good if VoiP Innovations could tell you exactly what they mean by those terms. Clearly they don't follow standards or they wouldn't have a problem with the 'Freeswitch' thing. They should be able to handle caller ID from another field other than the FROM field which is what I assume they are talking about when they say "Source field", they should handle it from either a p-asserted or an rpid.

Anyway regardless of that, they clearly can't so what you need to do is go into the gateways advanced settings and there should be a field for caller id in from. Set that to true and restart the gateway.

In the extension, make sure you have the number in the fields outbound caller id number and probably outbound caller id name with this carrier.

That was the fix, set the Caller ID in From to True under the Gateway's Advanced options and restarted. Thanks for the quick answer!
