Kazoo is a nightmare to run yourself and expensive to host.

It's not expensive to host. It's expensive to pay for 2600hz to host. And it's been a breeze so far. It's crazy how a few have said the same but I'm relatively new to this yet I can run and manage it just fine myself. There are a couple modules have 2600hz doesn't offer on Kazoo self-hosted, but I've handled those issues.

Hello,
It has been a long time since this discussion started. I wonder if there is a chance you will reduce the price for using the API.
I understand the need for revenue and am willing to pay. But $500 a month is not a small amount. Actually, I am just thinking about it while I type, it's a larger amount than what I am paying now for a whole switch to process about a million minutes.
Many SAAS products let you use the API even with the free version, and/or scale the usage according to the price.
I think that if you come up with more creative pricing you could possibly get more revenue while providing more value to your customers/members.

As it is today, it will be cheaper to develop our own API for the price of 2-3 years, with the additional benefit of owning your own code and not being dependent on a 3rd party, if you get what I mean.

Thanks.

This is a third party forum if you want to talk to the person that wrote the FusionPBX official API and FusionPBX then you could send in a ticket at https://www.fusionpbx.com. Also the monthly fee for the API also comes with a few other features and also includes support. As far as support goes its not the most expensive take a look at FreeSWITCH official support is more than 10 times higher price per month. Or SQLite support, or Enterprise DB.

Also consider that those that are FusionPBX members are supporting the project that you have chosen to depend on. Do you want it to continue to get better or would you like the progress to be slower. If people support the project it improves faster than if they do not. So thanks to the people that have contributed monetarily FusionPBX has continued to get better security, more stable and the 5.0 release. Multiple member features have been released and are now open source. And more features are coming that will make your Hosting service more valuable.

@Maani Response to your message.

Used to be member features and these are now part of FusionPBX main repo.
- User Logs
- Email Queue

There are additional member features that were donated to the project and can be seen on Github at this location in additional code repositories.
- https://github.com/fusionpbx

They are in additional repos because they are optional features. More member features will become open source I have a few more in mind to share.
