Call transfer to return to initiating extension

Something that comes up all the time, and to my knowledge is not possible without some voodoo dial plan, is that customers expect that when a call is transferred, and not answered, it goes back to the extension that transferred the call. This is how traditional PABX systems typically worked. As far as I know - no voip system has this, but I would like to verify that this is indeed the case. Does anyone know of an easy way to accomplish this?
 
There is an attended transfer where the person transferring stays on the line to confirm the end user is present. If they aren't, they can cancel the transfer and stay with the caller without losing contact.

There's also an option to park the call. If the parked call isn't answered within a certain, adjustable time frame, it will start ringing the person who originally parked it.
 
Yes I know, those are the suggestions to people, but the issue is the same as always "we have always done it like this and that's how we want it, I just want to press "transfer 150" and put the phone down and forget about it. Change is hard for people
