Over the weekend we upgraded to 5.0.2 which added new features to Fusion email queue and fax queue I thought this was great, but faxes and emails would just sit in the queue in waiting status and never send so I had to disable the queue and now they send just fine I was curious if there is a step that I missed that actually enables the queues to work?

There is a script that has to run for the queue to work. It is either installed as a service or a cron job and it sounds like you don't have it running.
