Scenario... FusionPBX in the cloud behind a NAT device, phones are anywhere else in the world.

When external_rtp_ip and external_sip_ip are the WAN IP then everything is happy. If I change to a FQDN then no audio. As per the variable description I used the format "host:host.server.com" without the quotes.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

My considerations are redundancy...
1. DNS fail over between redundant internet connections.
2. Portability of the VM. If we wanted to keep a hot spare replicated at another site to spin up in a pinch then only a DNS change would be required.
3. The ability to use a dynamic IP (not really my situation).

Have you tried it with just hostname alone??

I have never tried this, never needed to use hostname.

I just got around to this, just putting a hostname, without host: in front of it didn't work either. Any other thoughts would be very much appreciated if you have them. Thanks.

Can you provide a siptrace so we can try and work out whats happening.

I think I have the same issue. Install on Google Cloud Platform. The installation used the internal Google IP. I had to swap out external_rtp_ip and external_sip_ip with the public IP to get audio to flow.
Using the domain didn't work.
