Hi y'all,

Greetings from The Netherlands! I'm a freelance embedded software engineer with about 25 year of experience, and for nostalgic reasons, my fascination with telephony systems has been rekindled.

I have some experience with SIP; Well over 15 years ago, I was running TrixBox on a converted Siemens thin-client, with an ISDN BRI, running a small number of phones throughout the house. My now-wife lived abroad that time, and I installed a GrandStream phone at her home, so we could talk for free. But with her moving in and the ISDN line hardly ever being used, the TrixBox went out and that's now 10 years ago.

In the far past, when I was a kid in the mid-80's, my dad salvaged an office intercom system from a building at work and installed it in our house. From that moment on, yelling was a thing of the past in that house. Now we have a kid of our, the yelling has also been reintroduced, so I figured an intercom would be a nice solutions again.

I'm been messing with FreePBX/Asterisk every minute of my free time during the pas 4 weeks, but every time I solved a problem, two new ones popped up, so here I am; Looking for PBX-wisdom!

Honesty demands that I confess I'm a masochist: I'm using Cisco phones... Half of them with 3PPC firmware, half of them with CUCM firmware. Hopefully I can swap some experiences here.

Cheers,

Robert.
