Hello fellow FusionPBX users. From my understanding, RTP connections are generally established directly between the calling parties. But the default in FusionPBX does not operate in this manner. From a Wireshark capture, I see all RTP packets flowing through the PBX.

This corroborates with https://developer.signalwire.com/freeswitch/FreeSWITCH-Explained/Configuration/Proxy-Media_13173588/ which says:

FreeSWITCH has 3 media handling modes:
  • Default: media flows through FS, full processing options
- RTP proxied by FreeSWITCH
- FreeSWITCH controls codec negotiation
- If endpoints agree on same codec, no transcoding is performed
- All features enabled - recording, DTMF interception, etc, etc

So here is my thought: I want to have my phone endpoints communicate with Fusion un-encrypted, but I want Fusion to encrypt the audio packets that are bound for my SIP trunk.

Is something like this possible? It would seem to be since the default media handling mode offers "full processing options." Thanks.

Edit: If it helps make things clearer, I have a relatively simple setup. I have one phone number from my SIP trunk, and any number dialed that has 7 or more digits goes to the SIP trunk.
