Call Waiting not working

i always do a long search before posting but i have found little mention of this in the docs, and only one other post in the forum. I cannot get call waiting to work by default, when i am on a call, it goes to voicemail. I have tried with groundwire and gs gxp2130, and it is the same no matter what i change in the handset.
I tried fooling with the call forward settings on busy, and that had no effect as i could not determine where else to try.

Please advise as this is a pretty common feature in other pbx platforms.

It's pretty much entirely up to the handset and not the PBX. It either accepts a call, or sends back a busy.

It might be relevant to see if you have the following variable in the local_extension dialplan entry:

fail_on_single_reject=true

Some handsets send back a rejection when they can't take a call. You might a want to change it to false and see what happens.

Failing that, do a SIP trace of a failing call waiting. It will probably highlight who is to blame. (sngrep, etc)
