Dynamic E911 Setup on FSPBX – Has Anyone Done This?

Hi everyone,

Has anyone set up Dynamic E911 on FSPBX using Telnyx as the provider?

Our use case is a hotel with around 50 rooms, each room having its own extension. We have 1 DID for E911 and need each extension to report its own physical location (room number) to the PSAP when 911 is dialed, rather than just the main building address.

A few things I'm trying to figure out:
  1. How do you map individual extensions to specific location records with Telnyx Dynamic E911?
  2. Does FSPBX have any built-in support for this or does it need custom dialplan work?
  3. Is the location data pushed via Telnyx's E911 API per call, or does it need to be pre-registered per extension?

Any experience or guidance would be really appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Happy with this or want to tweak anything?

  1. If I’m not mistaken, each room would need its own DID for this setup to work, based on what I’ve learned so far.
  2. I’m not sure if FSPBX or even FusionPBX supports this type of setup.
  3. I believe the outbound caller ID is handled per call using the assigned outbound DID name/number (based on the upstream provider)
We currently have a few retirement home customers with around 50 to 100 rooms. For these types of environments, we usually use a Grandstream UCM and bridge it back to FusionPBX.

I have not tested this setup with FSPBX yet, but I’m sure it should be possible.

For 911 calls in these environments, we typically see anywhere from 2 to 4 calls per day.

The reason we use a UCM is that it has a feature where, when 911 is called, all nurse station or office phones are alerted with a message stating that 911 was called from extension XXX, where XXX is the room number.

When staff hear that message over the speaker, they immediately rush to that room to assist.

It also sends an email notification for record keeping purposes.

hope this helps

On FSPBX, there is actually a built-in feature for emergency call handling under Dashboard → Settings → Hotel Management → Emergency Calls, which is a good starting point for hotel deployments.

We are using Telnyx as our provider and they do offer a Dynamic E911 / Emergency Call Routing feature, however their documentation is a bit unclear and we are having trouble translating it into a working FSPBX configuration.

From what we understand, a dedicated DID is required per extension for true Dynamic E911, meaning each room would need its own DID mapped to its physical location. We have seen some PBX vendors support this natively, Grandstream UCM, where emergency call location mapping is available but only works on peer SIP trunk connections, which is a limitation worth noting.

If anyone has documentation or has successfully programmed Dynamic E911 on FSPBX — whether through dialplan customization, Telnyx API integration, or any other method — it would be extremely helpful for us and likely for others in the community as well.

@pbxgeek — would love to see any documentation or steps you may have on how to get this working on FSPBX!
