FusionPBX under CentOS 6and 7

You will need to add the EPEL repository and the Okay repository https://okay.com.mx/en/blog/rpm-repositories-for-centos-6-and-7.html

After that yum install fusionpbx

Why would you recommend this over Debian? Also, would the built-in Upgrade in Fusion work?

Because I have 15+ years using RH and RPM distributions. I won't play with my customers' production with a distribution I don't know in depth.
The built-inn upgrade won't work (or it shouldn't), that's why you are using RPMs. The RPM will handle the upgrade by you.
