Hi guys,

I would like to understand whether hosting FusionPBX alone on a public cloud with a public IP address is sufficient for SIP clients to operate reliably. In other words, can SIP clients register and make calls successfully without additional components? My main concern is potential RTP media issues caused by NAT on client networks. In such a setup, is it necessary to deploy an SBC or use VPNs to handle NAT-related RTP problems, or does FusionPBX handle this by default?

Many people are using FusionPBX successfully to many tenants. Many of their servers are on a public IP address. Some of them are behind NAT with AWS or Google Cloud (NAT can make it harder to setup and get everything working). I know some people are using a VPN but its not a large number of people. There are some but not large numbers of people using an SBC, and of those many aren't using it to resolve NAT issues.

If you put the server on a public IP address then there aren't as many NAT related issues to solve. It also helps to use FusionPBX provisioning as NAT related settings are applied to the phones.
