Search backup and restore at docs.fusionpbx.com
There are script examples in the docs

Basic steps
Backup original system database and files you want to keep,
Copy backup to new server
Drop database on new server
Restore saved database on new server
Upgrade fusionpbx

All this is going to do is overwrite what he currently has and effectively take him back to 4.4.4.

Upgrade the other server first, then move the data.

do a backup in case things go wrong.
upgrade current system
do another backup of newly updated system
move to other server and restore...

I'm in a similar situation and cannot figure out how to upgrade.
I have an existing production machine with freeswitch 1.8 and fusionpbx 4.4.3.
Another machine is installed with freeswitch 1.10 and fusionpbx 4.4.9.

What's the procedure to move the database from the older to the newer machine? Just copy it, or is there an upgrade procedure?
Is there anything else in fusionpbx that I need to copy?
On the file system, is there anything to copy beyond freeswitch "recordings" folder that the fusionpbx cdr points to?

You must follow the upgrade process on the old machine until they are at the same level as the new machine, then you can move the data.

Through menu item Advanced -> Upgrade?
(sorry for asking stupid questions, I've never upgraded FusionPBX before).

Hello
I am also in big thinking in this.
lets say if i am happy with version

4.5.3 and i would like to keep that version all the time
i think its not possible.
as i saw in the GIT. fusionpbx has branch 4.0 then 4.2 then 4.4

so basically before migrate i have to always upgrade the current system. right? as when we will install the system again it will be comes with up to date version.

am i right?

thanks everyone
