Poly Phones and emergency dialing

Our internal servers use different hostnames than the public SIP domain

Dialing 411 or any other number will correctly sent an invite to 411@publicsipdomain.com

However, dialing 911 seems to trigger some sort of alternate routing behavior and will send an invite to 911@internalserverfqdn.com

Does anyone have documentation to help with figuring out the correct behavior?

Well, that's silly of Poly. Did you follow what that commenter did to the phone and override the phones emergency routing policy?

What the poster in that thread did is to (accidentally, I think) override detecting "911" as an emergency number, so it's treated like any other number. I could do this, but I'm just curious if anyone's run into this or has actual documentation.
