Is it possible for the pbx to see itself as registered when the provider does not? My current experience says it is so, but I do not know why.

You should really start getting into using sngrep and checking logs to get rid of the unknown parts. You ask so many questions without providing anything useful for us so that we can help you to investigate further. It's always just guessing what your issue might be. If the registration fails it should reflect properly in the ui with the state.
