Is this related to changing the ports ??????
More than likely. On GSWave in settings -> Account, under Netwrok Settings make sure that the Outbound Proxy has your SIP port correctly set. E.g. test.me.co.uk:5060.

Also remember that if your SIP server name resolves to your external public IP address then it will not work if you are trying to connect from a device on your internal LAN to which your public IP is Natted. Very few routers will let you "double NAT" I.E. go out and back in again. I hope that makes sense.

You will have to edit gswave account settings to use your alternative sip port. The QR code currently cannot set alternate ports for sip server.

change sip server address from yourpbxipordomain to yourpbxipordomain:5000
Add “:5000” to specify your custom port number

Oh wait.. you are changing ports as it traverses firewall.
Probably better to change listening port in sip profile to 5000 and just port forwarding matching ports

Sounds like packets are getting mangled by firewall. Would need to change sip profile to alternate port and set firewall port forwarding to match new port.

I have already done the following ( as my router wouldn't let me open port 5060 )
In fusion I have set
external_sip_port port to 5000
external_tls_port to 5010
On the router I have opened port 5000 and port forward to 5060 and 5010 to 5061 ( to the debian server )

What else do I need to do or change ?

I followed this tutorial here
https://www.whichvoip.com/articles/fusionpbx-tutorial.htm
So I deleted the gateway and disabled the other domains.
restarted the server box.
I set the FusionPBX box to fixed IP 192.168.1.5

I now have 3 extensions connected.
1 x IPhone
1 x ATA
1 x sip phone ( our own as the GSwave wouldn't connect. There's a setting that set the sip chanell to 5060 which can't be changed )

I can now make calls between these.

However I'm back to square one with the gateway. When I do sip status I'm getting the Connection to Event Socket failed. again.
