freeswitch-mod-curl not installing

I'm trying to install mod_curl on my Debian 8.1 server using FreeSwitch 1.6 + FusionPBX 4.5.3.

I execute the command - (as referenced in https://www.pbxforums.com/threads/curl-on-dialplan.2635/)

apt-get install freeswitch-mod-curl

Everything seems to go well until it attempts to download and install. It gives me the following. -



I see that I'm getting a HTTP 401 error in this message and when I try to load the URL (http://files.freeswitch.org/repo/deb/freeswitch-1.6/) in a browser it asks for a username and password. Running "apt-get update" doesn't seem to fix this. What am I missing? Do I need to upgrage my FreeSwitch version to use mod_curl? Do I need a username and password to get this mod installed from FreeSwitch?

This is a vanilla installation of FusionPBX on Debian so I'm surprised its not working. Any help or direction would be much appreciated!

I think many of us may be scratching our heads and wondering what is going on. If you want to use freeswitch packages, you now need a key from signalwire, just google it, you will easily find it but...

The default installer will build from source, where does the freeswitch 1.6 come from, that is ancient and also the mod_curl? All the dialplan is servered from the database and lua.

You most likely need to migrate off of the end of life operating system to a new server. It is not a good idea to stick to an end of life operating system. Not only is Debian 8 end of life so is Debian 9. Suggest using Debian 11 or 12 at this point.

Thank you very much for your responses! Was quite sick this week, but wanted to get back to everyone.

Yeah, I was hoping to avoid needing to migrate this server data to a new more up to date Debian / Freeswitch / FusionPBX environment. But it definitely seems like there's no better time than now to upgrade. Especially with the operating system being used being at the end of life.

I've been reluctant to migrate as I've attempted to in the past and it always seemed to need to be done manually. I wanted to see if there was a more effective way to move just the account data between these servers.

OLD SERVER
Debian 8.1 server using FreeSwitch 1.6 + FusionPBX 4.5.3.

To

NEW SERVER
Debian 11 server using FreeSwitch 1.10.7 + Fusionpbx 5.0.3

I was planning on following this upgrade guide for 4.4 to 5.0 (https://docs.fusionpbx.com/en/latest/advanced/version_upgrade.html). And then attempt migrating the data from the Old Server to New. Is this the best approach for migrating our old data to the new server?
